Favourite Opera: LE NOZZE DI FIGARO

Daniel Lichti, Professor at Wilfrid Laurier University and Bass-baritone, is one of Canada’s finest concert and oratorio singers.  He appears regularly with major North American Symphonic, Choral and Concert organizations, and has performed extensively in Europe

A recent your of Great Britain with the Bach Choir and Festival Orchestra of Bethlehem, PA , included a world premiere performance of Libby Larsen’s  I IT Am – THE SHEWINGS OF JULIAN OF NORWICH in a PROMS concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall, broadcast live by the BBC.  Lichti is a regular guest artist at many major American Bach Festivals, this past May appearing at the 99th Annual Bach Festival in Bethlehem, PA. 

He has been filmed in concert with Helmuth Rilling conducting the Bachakademie Orchestra and the Gaechinger Kantorei of Stuttgart.  Last fall, he returned to Osaka, Japan to perform Haydn’s CREATION.  Lichti also maintains an active operatic career, performing with many of Canada’s foremost opera and theatre companies, most recently with L’Opera de Montreal. 

Past international appearances include performances of Handel’s GIULIO CEASARE with the Handel and Haydn Society of Boston and at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.  Lichti’s extensive discography includes SONGS OF HUGO WOLF which was nominated for a Juno and recent CD releases THE SOULFUL BACH and TELEMANN WITH OLDE FRIENDS CONCERT ARTISTS on the Centaur Label, THE WORLD’S BEST OPERA FOR KIDS.
