Favourite Opera: LA TRAVIATA

Tom Diamond’s internationally acclaimed productions have been seen on the stages of the finest Theatre and Opera Companies in North America.  Most notably are eight operas for the Canadian Opera Company (including the award-winning JULIUS CEASAR with Polish superstar Ewa Podles and Canadian stars Isabel Bayrakdarian and Daniel Taylor) and four for Pacific Opera Victoria (new production of Puccini’s MANON LESCAUT).

He developed the hugely successful off-Broadway hit SQUONK which transferred to the Helen Hayes Theatre on Broadway where it won the American Theatre Wing’s prestigious Hewes Award.  Most recently he made his debut with San Francisco Opera/Merola (THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO) and Opera New Brunswick (TOSCA).  Last season, he developed and directed 6 new one-act operas for Tapestry New Opera Works – a company for which he had previously directed the national tour of STILL THE NIGHT and the Dora Award winning world premiere of IRON ROAD.  He also stages a critically-acclaimed co-production of Verdi’s RIGOLETTO for Pacific Opera and Orchestra London (which featured last season’s BATHROOM DIVAS finalist Sonia Gustafson).  Mr. Diamond is a much sought-after lecturer and teacher of acting specializing in working with the singing actor.
